Help determining strategy of UPC
UPC will host a workshop for a small group of their best and most innovative employees during The Next Web Conference in a special room. They would love to speak and discuss with attendees, web savvies and influentials who like to share their opinion on the following topics:
1 - What should the web strategy be for a traditional network company (cable, telco - such as UPC)? Specifically:
- we plan to test/trial online video to TV today - is this threat/opportunity?
- should we white label/outsource to speed up development of services?
2 - Online Marketing (and Support) - riding the hype
- self care online - avoid help desk calls
- online sales and marketing - acquire, up/cross sell UPC products
3 - Building online value for our offline customers (data/voice and tv) - web tools and features
- aim is to creates value (via tools/feature connected to the core voice/data/video products) to help acquisition + give reasons to stay/fight churn
- what tools/features?
- white label/or create
4 - Create new portal businesses via balanced investment strategy
- M&A, VC, combinators

I think the strategy of UPC should first and foremost be to 1. make sure the connections they sell actually work reliably and 2. to stop sending invoices for services they don’t actually provide.
Oh, and I think you should take the trouble to 1. add some markup to your posts (ever heard of the ul and ol elements?) and 2. to start using that ‘Check Spelling’ feature in your browser.
